Two International Workshops on Bilevel Programming (IWOBIP), held in Monterrey, Mexico in 2016, and at INRIA Lille-Nord Europe, France in 2018 demonstrated the interest in the topic by many researchers.
The main motivation for the third IWOBIP, to take place in Valdivia, Chile, on the 2nd week of December 2020, is to bring together a group of academics, practitioners, and students working on the topic. It is also meant to attract young researchers and graduated students (master and Ph.D. students) who are specializing in Bilevel Programming.
Bilevel Programming is a fairly recent branch of optimization that deals with programs whose constraints embed an auxiliary optimization problem. Bilevel programs are pervasive and are commonly found in a number of real-world problems. This includes problems in the domains of transportation, energy, economics, decision science, environmental economics, security, location analysis, etc. All possible applications in these and other areas are among the topics of interest of IWOBIP ’20, as well as theory, exact methods, and heuristic algorithms.
In addition to contributed presentations, IWOBIP’20 will consist of plenary lectures and mini-courses, both given by world-renowned researchers. There will be only one stream, because of the degree of specialization of the workshop, and because we hope that it will help attendees to interact with each other and increase networking.
The city of Valdivia, located in the mid-south of Chile.
The local organizers of the conference will schedule a social activity in order to help the integration and interaction of the attendees.
